A (very) quick review of Inception...(my first review, I'll get better, I promise!)
AMAZING!
Christopher Nolan has done it again with this mind-blowing movie. If you liked the Dark Knight, you'll love this. A superb cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, and Cillian Murphy.
The idea for the movie itself came from Nolan ten years ago when he penned a short draft-screenplay about people who steal dreams. He didn't feel confident enough to make the movie at the time and wanted to work on other large scale movies to gain more experience....hence Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. With the success of these, he went on to finish the story and script for Inception and sold it to Warner Bros. in early 2009. Filming started in July that year and ended late November, shooting internationally in locations like England, Canada, Tokyo and even Paris!
Every aspect of the movie was strong. The cast were brilliant. I've never had much of a liking for Leonardo DiCaprio (or DeCrapio as I used to call him), but this feature has changed my mind completly. Ellen Page and Cillian Murphy were great as usual, but for me Joseph Gordon-Levitt was on top with Leonardo. His single person scenes (dream level two) were excellant and made the movie all the more full of suspense.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away, so briefly it's about a group of people who can get into others dreams and extract the information they need. Although taking the information out is easy, placing a new idea into a person's mind (inception) is thought to be inpossible......enter Leonardo and his dream team (pun intended).
The score was composed by Hans Zimmer and the music suited the scenes perfectly. The menancing sounds of an orchastra seemed to just add to the suspense and tension that was unfolding in the plot.
Overall, the movie was great. A Dark Knight style script with a somewhat Matrix-y feel, combined with amazing effects.....win win win! Well worth the money and time to go see it. I'd give it 9.5/10 and I guarantee you'll be on the edge of your seat for half of it!
So whats next for Nolan? As I said in my previous entry - Batman 3!!! Himself and his brother are hardworking on a script, so it's set to be a busy years for them both! As said before, he is rumoured to have involvement with a new Superman reboot, but it looks like this role may be going to Christopher Columbus (director of the first 2 Harry Potter movies), however we will remain hopeful for Nolan!!

Good Things Seem To Come In 3's!
First of all....News!
Batman 3....its happening! Warner Brothers have announced a summer 2012 release date, with no official title, plot or script even ready. In the director's chair again is Christopher Nolan, who gave us Begins and the Dark Knight.
Christian Bale will return as playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne and his gruff-voiced alter-ego Batman. Not much has been said about other cast members yet (definitely no Heath anyways....sorry!). The cast depends on the plot and that will be based on what characters will appear, i.e. villians! Rumour has it The Riddler will be the main bad guy in this final Bat-flick, but is this a strong enough villian to end the trilogy on? And is he enough to base a whole film on? Even the Dark Knight needed The Joker and a brief Two-Face to secure it's greatness. Also, it'd be nice to see the introduction of a Robin perhaps.
More rumours about who will Riddler. Jim Carey did a great job in Batman Forever, so who'll step into those questioning shoes? There are 3 favourite - Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days Of Summer), Johnny Depp (Every single Tim Burton film EVER) and.......wait for it......Robin Williams?!?! Joseph G-J played a villian in the recent G.I. Joe movie which was terrible, but it gives him bad guy experience none-the-less. I'm not sure about Johnny Depp, it could work? As for Robin Williams, I seriously doubt it. I think he's past his sell-by date for such a role.
Chris Nolan, whose Inception is coming to cinemas in the coming weeks, wanted to take a break from the Batman franchise for a few years. But he seems to have been persuaded to start sooner then expected.....I suspect a little thing called money was the driving force! Another franchise he has noted interest in is of course another comic book hero - Superman, originally Nolan intended on doing a Superman movie before Batman 3. Although he ruled out a crossover of the two films back in 2008, a comic-nerd such as myself can only dream of a brief Super cameo at the end of Batman 3. It may just be the perfect ending to the Capped Crusader Triliogy and beginning of a Man Of Steel movie.
Another Threequel confirmed is Men In Black III, expected to make an appearance in May 2012. I'm surprised by this one, as M.I.B. II wasn't as it was cracked up to be. Even more surprising is Will Smith's back as Agent Jay. However no Tommy-Lee Jones (Agent Kay). The plot has been revealed and *spoiler alert* it's time travel based.......my favourite kind of movie! :P
The plot revolves around Agent Jay travelling back in time to save both Agent Kay and the world, from a nutbag time-traveller called Yaz. Although there is no Tommy-Lee, a younger Agent Kay will be played by Josh Brolin. Villian Yaz is to be played by villian Jemaine Clement, but won't be a comedy character in any way shape or form!
Celebrity cameos played a part in I and II, and it seems M.I.B. III will be no different with 60's A-listers Yoko Ono, Jimi Hendrix, Fidel Castro, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Andy Warhol featuring.
In case you haven't heard Paranormal Activity 2 is a go......Oh dear....kind of defeats the whole point of the movie if you ask me, but it will make money like it's predecessor, so it's being made. Same girl as before and everything, except this time there appears to be a dog and a baby involved! Oooooooo scary! The trailer was released the other day.....yawn.
Finally, James Cameron has quite a bit on his plate at the moment, two film re-releases are hitting the cinemas. The first being Avatar, making a 2 week comeback in August.....I still haven't seen it, so I'm looking forward to finally getting around to seeing the film everyone was talking about, and delve into the revolutionary 3D universe it created! On top on this, his movie Titantic is getting a 3D update and is set to hit cinema screens by April 2012. I look forward to an iceberg popping out at me!
