Due out in 2014, this sequel sees superhero Spider-Man aka Peter Parker aka Tobey....I mean Andrew Garfield, fighting new enemies Rhino (played by Paul Giamatti) and Electro (Jamie Foxx). Emma Stone is returning as love interest Gwen Stacy, who's Father's wish was for Peter to ensure her safety by staying away. We'll see how long that lasts. This may be a bit easier though, with the introduction of well known character Mary Jane Watson (brought to life by Kirsten Du....I mean Shailene Woodley). Two girls AND two bad guys?! Triangles galore in this one! Not to mention old friend Harry Osborne (James Fra....Ok. I'll stop. Dane DeHaan.) will be on the scene too.
Anyways, back to the news.
For those not following director Marc Webb (perfect name really) on twitter, he has been updating on the production of the film. Various bits and bobs, such as images of sets of OsCorp and Ravencroft Institute. He's on "Day 38" now, so worth a follow for updates on progress. Today, he announced addition of ex-The Office star B.J. Novak.
Best known for his roles in The Office and Inglorious Basterds, there is already speculation over who Novak will portray. Fans seem to think it may be Alistair Smythe - son of mad scientist Spencer Smythe (who creates robots known as Spider-Slayers, designed to hunt Spider-Man), who carries on his work after his fathers death. Or Dr. Otto Gunther Octavius, better known as Doctor Octopus.
Time shall tell, but it's a great addition to an already amazing cast!
